Illumin magazine is  currently seeking team-oriented individuals to fill editorial and webmaster positions for the 2020-2021 academic year. The time commitment is 2-3 hours per week in meetings, and 8-10 hours per week of independent work.  All positions are paid by stipend and do not require work-study.

Published by USC Viterbi students, Illumin is an online magazine whose mission is to show how engineering affects our lives on a daily basis. Illumin has
world-wide readership, our articles are cited on various academic and trade websites, and publishers have excerpted our articles in textbooks.

A staff of undergraduate editors, in conjunction with a graphic designer, a web developer, and a faculty advisor, publishes Illumin by editing, writing, and creat-ing multimedia content for online articles and features.

  • Experience working with teams
  • Ability to do self-motivated, independent work
  • Edit articles
  • Engage in outreach efforts
  • General administrative tasks
  • Excellent writing ability a plus
  • Provide input on web and graphic design

WEBMASTER POSTIONS

We are currently seeking a team-oriented individual to fill the role of webmaster for the 2020-2021 academic year. The time commitment is 2-3 hours per week in meetings, and 8-10 hours per week of independent work.  The position is paid by stipend and do not require work-study.

  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Illumin site
  • Maintaining the frontend of the site
  • Updating the various plugins
  • Troubleshooting technical issues
  • A background in web development helps, but is not required
  • Knowledge of WordPress encouraged
