STUDENT DIVERSITY ORGANIZATIONS
Celebrating our diversity at USC Viterbi
About Student Organizations
The Center for Engineering Diversity assists student diversity organizations in developing and implementing programs and activities that raise awareness for underrepresented minorities and females in engineering professions. Student leaders from these organizations attend professional development conferences which enables them to learn from professional underrepresented engineers, as well as other student leaders from across the nation. Our student organizations work together to host various community outreach events throughout the year. These events bring local students to campus to participate in hands on engineering activities and learn more about various engineering fields.
Minority Engineering Graduate Association
(MEGA)
The Minority Engineering Graduate Association serves to unite minority graduate engineering students and provide them with an environment to enhance their academic, professional, and social involvements. Through community service, social events, and networking events, MEGA seeks to connect graduate students through the many aspects of graduate school life.
National Society of Black Engineers
(NBSE)
The National Society of Black Engineers aims to increase the number of black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, positively impact the community, and increase the number of minority students in engineering, both undergraduates and graduates, encouraging members to seek advanced degrees and professional registrations in engineering.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
(SHPE)
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers seeks to establish a lasting relationship between current students in engineering and professional engineers by promoting the advancement of Hispanic engineering students and professionals. SHPE hopes to improve the quality and quantity of Hispanic engineers in our society and offers students counseling and tutoring.
Society of Women Engineers
(SWE)
The Society of Women Engineers is a national educational and service organization that promotes awareness and the advancement of women in engineering. Our mission is to motivate women to achieve their full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as improving the quality of life and demonstrate the value of diversity.
Queers in Engineering, Science and Technology
(QuEST)
Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics is a national LGBTQ-affirming organization that aims to provide services and support for students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and to create a dynamic network between students and professionals in industry and academia.
