Categories
Research Paper: This category includes research papers, literature reviews and synthesis papers. Strong entries will draw upon substantial scholarly research and demonstrate an awareness of the larger scholarly landscape while critically evaluating individual sources.
Analytical/Expository Essay: This category includes thesis-driven and expository essays. Strong entries will offer an original analysis of a topic using logical reasoning and appropriate rhetorical strategies.
Eligibility and Prize Details
- Graduating Viterbi senior at time of entry
- Only one paper per category, up to one per category
- Single author work only
- All submissions must have been written in a single semester as part of USC course work
- First place ($500), second place ($250), third place ($125) for both categories
Judges will be professors from various Viterbi departments.

Submit using the link below. At the top of your paper, include your name, email, the category for which the paper should be considered, and the semester and the course for which the paper was written.
