We are pleased to announce that registration for the SCymposium is now open! This event was previously referred to as the Undergraduate Symposium for Scholarly & Creative Work.
Presented by Academic Programs, the week-long SCymposium provides students with the opportunity to exhibit examples of their scholarly and creative work with the university community. This year, the SCymposium will be held virtually from April 12 – 16, 2021.
Each day is themed around a broad category of study:
Monday, April 12: Arts, Architecture & Humanities
Tuesday, April 13: Life Sciences
Wednesday, April 14: Physical Sciences, Mathematics & Engineering
Thursday, April 15: Social Sciences
Friday, April 16: Virtual Awards Ceremony
Undergraduate students present works through virtual Poster Exhibits throughout the week. Registered participants can also engage in daily Roundtable Discussions on various research topics. These discussions are hosted and facilitated by faculty and/or graduate students from diverse disciplines, including Annenberg Graduate Fellows.
The SCymposium culminates with a virtual Awards Ceremony. The ceremony celebrates all undergraduate participants and their faculty sponsors and honors the most outstanding projects. A panel of judges will review submissions and award First Prizes of $1000 and Second Prizes of $500 in the five major academic categories: (1) Arts & Architecture, (2) Humanities, (3) Life Sciences, (4) Physical Sciences, Mathematics & Engineering, and (5) Social Sciences.
Additional recognition may be given for Interdisciplinary or Digital Media submissions, plus awards from the USC Schwarzenegger Institute and the American Physiological Society.
If you have been supported this past year by a stipend from the Undergraduate Research Associates Program (URAP), the USC Provost’s Fellowship Programs, or the USC Dornsife College SOAR or SURF Programs, we encourage you to share your work with the USC community.
