Grand Challenges Scholars Program

Joining Viterbi GCSP

The Viterbi Grand Challenges Scholars Program welcomes participation from all USC undergraduates who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program housed within Viterbi.

Students are encouraged to get involved with GCSP starting in their first semester at USC to maximize on their time engaging in experiences that will qualify towards GCSP Designation in their senior year.

Students who wish to get started on their GCSP journey should complete the following items:

  • Review program information on the Viterbi GCSP website
  • Attend GCSP info session at the start of the fall or spring semester of each academic year. You may also contact Dr. Kamau Jamal Abercrombia if you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment to discuss GCSP
  • Create a GCSP profile using the GCSP Tracking Tool in your myViterbi account
  • Join the EngageSC group
  • Create a GCSP profile website to begin showcasing your work and experiences

GCSP Student Organization: Students Innovating for Grand Challenges

As a participant in Viterbi GCSP, you are automatically represented by the GCSP student organization, Students Innovating for Grand Challenges (SIGC).

SIGC helps create community around Grand Challenges by hosting workshops, contests and events related to the Five Mindsets of GCSP and the four themes of Grand Challenges. Much of your participation within SIGC can qualify as relevant experiences to list for your Designation Application
