Overview & Goals

The Center for Undergraduate Research in Viterbi Engineering (CURVE) Fellowship provides a centralized resource for undergraduate students to explore research opportunities in Viterbi early on in their undergraduate career.

The Viterbi Admission & Student Engagement team funds undergraduate researchers to work directly with faculty in their labs. With faculty input, the CURVE committee facilitates an application process which matches undergraduate students with open research positions.

The CURVE Fellowship will culminate in an end-of-year symposium.

The main goals of CURVE are:

  • To enable students to participate in undergraduate research early in their Viterbi career
  • To promote equity and diversity in the undergraduate research experience
  • To provide professional and skill development opportunities
  • To foster a community of undergraduate researchers

The goal of CURVE is to give undergraduate students exposure to research early in their Viterbi careers by providing funding for one academic year. Our vision is that faculty will be able to accept a new group of CURVE students every year in order to maximize the amount of students exposed to research.

We aim to increase freshman participation in research.
