Viterbi has partnered with six of the leading engineering institutions in the world to bring you the Global Engineering Design Studio (GEDS). Students interested in global collaboration and global design and engineering challenges can now apply to be a part of the GEDS.
The GEDS is an opportunity to work with 6 other Universities from around the global on a design and engineering sprint to come up with innovative solutions to global and local challenge opportunities. Engineering students wanting to learn, develop and co-create solutions internationally please apply.
The overall theme of this year’s program is Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Participants will select a challenge topic from one of the 3 Challenge Areas tied to the SDGs:
•SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
•Ex. How might we preserve or improve the quality of water in critical areas?
•SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
•How might we navigate traffic congestion as populations in urban settings surge?
•SDG 15 – Life on Land
•How might we safeguard the population of pollinator species?
Student’s Commitment to the Program:
8-10 hours per week for 8 weeks
•4 hours of synchronous sessions on weekends
•4-6 hours of asynchronous collaboration
•Regular submission of deliverables
•Regular meetings with mentors for feedback
The program will begin on February 19, 2022 and will run until the project showcase on April 9, 2022.
