The Viterbi Impact Program (VIP) connects Viterbi students with the LA community.

VIP participants play a vital role in the community as they work as partners with local schools and organizations. VIP volunteers are undergraduate engineering students committed to a semester or more of volunteering in the community and service-learning activities. Volunteer time commitment will vary.

As an initiative lead by Dean Yortsos, the Viterbi School of Engineering is challenged to complete 100,000 hours of service per year through combined efforts from students, staff, and faculty.

Viterbi Impact Program Components:

The Viterbi Impact Program is geared to connect Viterbi students, student organizations, and faculty/staff to semester and one-off service opportunities. VIP is also a central location for students to come and reflect on the impact of their service.

Viterbi Day of Service

The Viterbi Day of Service is a day that connects students, staff, and faculty volunteers with non-profit organizations in Los Angeles County, in conjunction with Friends and Neighbors Day.

Reflection Sessions

Monthly reflection sessions for students to come together and give meaning to their experiences (in-person or electronic).

VIP Speaker Series

USC Faculty and community members discuss the societal impacts of engineering, and how to develop a mindset of societal consciousness.
