iPodia ENGR 345 – Global Innovation, Fall 2019

By April 11, 2019 Announcements

USC Viterbi’s iPodia program is now accepting applications for ENGR 345, Principles and Practices of Global Innovation, for Fall 2019. They welcome your application, and they are looking forward to building the network for global innovation with you!

This 3-unit class is open to USC undergraduate students from all majors. The course emphasizes the importance of cross-cultural interactions in developing innovative products and business ideas in our rapidly globalizing world. It will be taught by Dr. Stephen Lu, Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Computer Science, and Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at USC.

In the course, you will attend lectures that use videoconferencing technology to facilitate live interactions with classmates around the world and participate with global teams to exchange perspectives and work collaboratively on innovative projects.

There is no formal international travel as part of this course. However, after the course is completed, we typically select a small group of USC students to represent iPodia for an overseas study trip. A separate application and interviews during the term will be used to select a small number of student representatives. Selection for such travel is typically competitive and there are additional costs for students selected as representatives. However, acceptance to the international component is need blind and need-based scholarships may be available.

In this course, you will be engaged in intensive interaction with peers from the following universities (might be slightly adjusted):

Session A: (Thursdays, 8:00-10:00am)
Israel Institute of Technology, Israel
RWTH Aachen University, Germany
University of Patras, Greece
National Autonomous University of Mexico

Session B: (Thursdays, 6:00-8:00pm)
Peking University, China
Shanghai Jiaotong University, China
National Taiwan University, Taiwan
Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea

D-clearance is required to register for the course. If you are interested, please email your resume/CV to ipodia@usc.edu as soon as possible. Feel free to contact ipodia@usc.edu if you have any questions.
