The California Transportation Foundation (CTF) has a new program – Conference Connections. Conference Connections is a no cost program free to selected junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students to attend California transportation-related conferences, usually in coordination with a mentor from the transportation industry. Transportation conferences are a great way for students to make contacts and learn about new issues facing the industry.
Who is Eligible?
Conference Connections is open to upper division (junior and senior) California university undergraduates and graduate students in fields supporting transportation. These traditionally include civil engineering and urban/transportation planning, but students pursuing other transportation related majors are also welcome, including any area of engineering, computer/data science, public policy/administration/management, and related disciplines. University faculty must recommend students to the California Transportation Foundation. CTF is looking for articulate, high performing students whom can be expected to make the most of this experience.
The upcoming Conferences Connections are:
• California APA Conference to be held September 15 – 18, 2019 in Santa Barbara California. For additional conference information please see https://www.apacalifornia-conference.org/
• ITS California Annual Conference to be held September 9 – 11, 2019 in Los Angeles California. For additional conference information please see https://www.itscalifornia.org/events/
Free to students. Providing worthy, promising students with free participation at transportation conferences is part of the mission of the nonprofit, California Transportation Foundation. CTF will register the selected students for the conference. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel, and must submit receipts for conference registration, travel, lodging, and per diem expenses (meals) to CTF for reimbursement.
Who Will Be There?
Many transportation professionals from throughout California attend these conferences. Through CTF’s Conference Connections you will join three other junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students majoring in transportation related fields from schools throughout the state. In most cases, up to four selected professionals from various fields of transportation will serve as your mentor and conference connection.
What You Should Get Out of Conference Connections
