Attention Graduating Seniors!
With Commencement a week away on May 15, we have some tips and reminders for you to help ensure the day runs smoothly. Please share this with your family and guests!
Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
The Viterbi Undergraduate Ceremony guest seating area as well as our live streaming rooms will open at 8:30 a.m. on Commencement Day. We suggest arriving early to secure your seats for the ceremony. We will have TVs in the E-Quad that will broadcast the Main Ceremony.
Set up a meeting place for after the ceremony
With over 575 graduates and over 3000 guests in the Engineering Quad and live streaming rooms, finding your family and guests might be a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. Set up a meeting location in advance so you all know exactly where to go once the last graduate’s name has been called.
Graduates will process out of the E-Quad at the conclusion of the ceremony. The processional will end on Bloom walk.
On the day of commencement, the University will provide a limited number of wheelchairs available for checkout, free of charge in front of the Alumni House for those in need of this service. Checkout begins at 6:00 a.m., and all wheelchairs must be returned by 5:00 p.m.
At the Main Ceremony and Viterbi Undergraduate Ceremony, there is a seating section reserved for guests with wheelchairs. Because space is limited, we can only allow one escort per wheelchair user. This area, like all commencement guest seating, is first come, first served. For the Viterbi Undergraduate Ceremony, the wheelchair and escort user must each have one of your allocated guest tickets.
For more disability/wheelchair related information, please refer to the University Commencement website.
Keep Aisles Clear During Ceremony
We know that your families want to have the prime location in order to take a picture of you as you walk across that stage. However, please remind them that aisles must be kept clear during the ceremony for the safety of all of our guests. We will have professional photographers taking pictures of each graduate as he/she walks across stage so your family can rest assured that this momentous occasion will be captured on film.
Live Streaming of Viterbi Undergraduate Ceremony
For guests without tickets, and for those who prefer indoor seating, we will be live streaming the entire ceremony in SGM 123, 124 and OHE 122.
The restrooms on the first floor of RTH will be available for guests in the ticketed seating area.
